The Erelu Adebayo Foundation, also known as ERAF, has worked for several years to better the lives of needy and orphaned children in Nigeria. This non-profit organization, founded by Erelu Angela Adebayo, has a number of programs aimed at relieving the plight of children in areas hit hard by the HIV crisis and unemployment. ERAF has dedicated itself to housing, feeding, and clothing homeless children and orphans and developing a humanitarian operations resource network that will allow them to reach and help more children. Another main focus of the group is the assistance and rehabilitation of widows and their families as well as child-run households.
The Erelu Adebayo Foundation runs an orphanage known as the ERAF Children’s Home which is dedicated to providing a comfortable and loving home environment for orphans and vulnerable children. They also partner with different adoption agencies to help find permanent supportive homes for some of the children. Another much needed service provided by ERAF is a feeding program designed to ensure that staving and malnourished children are given therapeutic food at least twice a day. Not only does this ease the burden of families in extreme poverty but it helps the children grow stronger and healthier than they could have without this much needed sustenance.
The Erelu Adebayo Foundation operated on funding received from private donor and the philanthropic sponsorship of its five member board. The board includes: Erelu Angela Adebayo, founder and Chairman; Dr. Anita Kemi DaSilva-Ibru, a practicing doctor at Ideal Eagle Hospital who holds a Master’s degree in public health from John Hopkins University; Dr. Olusola Bob-Egbe, Medical Director of Faratori Eye Center; Mrs. Ronke Okusanya, Executive Chairman of BSES; and Agatha A. Johnpaul, Programme Officer. These 5 prominent women have worked hard over the years to ensure that no child of Nigeria is forgotten.
